Follow the step-by-step construction of A N A X I M A N D E R:

  • March 2018: Birth of the project (first ideas).

  • Since 2018: Targeted readings (research phase).
     

  • January 2019: Beginning of the writing.
     

  • March 2020: Start of daily writing: development of the storyline and first dialogues, drafting of summaries and appendices.

  • May 2020: Additional work on celestial mechanics (“birth” of the exomoon Aldéramin 5b).

  • October 2020: Exchanges with astronomer Jill Tarter and astrophysicist Andrew Siemion (SETI Berkeley Research Center) to validate the Prologue storyline.

  • Since October 2020: Writing of the narrative framework (treatment) and staging (scene-by-scene, act-by-act breakdown).

  • December 28, 2020: Filing of the unfinished work with the INPI.
     

  • April 2021: Creation of an initial homemade storyboard / Development of the website.

  • September 2021: 53 scenes and interludes structured the story.

  • October 2021: Start of writing a synopsis (a few-page summary describing the entire story).

  • Since 2021: Sending drafts for feedback (close circle), rereading and final validation of the narrative framework / Ongoing research, various writings (dialogues, subject, pitch, notes, appendices, etc.).
     

  • Since October 2022: Writing of the director’s statement (search for graphic references).

  • December 30, 2022: After reading the script, illustrator Nicolas Leroy expressed his wish to join the project.
     

  • Since 2023: Focus on character development and dialogues.

  • March 2023: 58 scenes now structured the story.

  • April 2023: Integration into doc. 1a (script) of a 1-page summary and a detailed 12-page synopsis.

  • September 2023: First graphic research elements provided by Nicolas Leroy.

  • Since December 2023: Generation of concept art using DALL·E 3 (OpenAI).
     

  • January 15, 2024: Registration of the project at the Rennes National Animation Film Festival / Launch of the website www.lesvoyagesdanaximandre.com

  • February 1, 2024: Registration of the project at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

  • February 2, 2024: Filing of the updated script with the SACD (E-DPO).

  • Since February 2024: Timing and fine proofreading of the script.

  • March 29, 2024: Call for storyboard applications.

  • Since March 2024: Search for collaborators: presentation of the project to dozens of artists from the animation industry.

  • June 2024: Formation of a team of three 2D artists (including Nicolas Leroy), selected from candidates who completed tests, around the screenwriter (Andréas Martin), to define and develop the graphic identity of the project.

  • June 17, 2024: Start of advanced graphic research, with the short-term goal of producing a graphic bible, and the medium-term goal of creating a pitch trailer for the series.

  • Mid-June 2024: Creation of a first mock-up of the trailer.

  • July 20, 2024: Selection of graphic proposals by Nicolas Leroy (character design, sets, etc.) among those submitted by other artists, and confirmation of his role as lead illustrator.

  • August 22, 2024: First complete version of the script: the animated series The Voyages of Anaximander will be divided into six episodes, each about 34 minutes long.

  • September – November 2024: Launch of tests (four candidates) to recruit the storyboard artist for the trailer.

  • October 4, 2024: Registration of the project for the Beaumarchais Grant – Television Animation category.

  • November 13, 2024: Antoine Charvieux joins as storyboard artist for the trailer. The team now includes Andréas Martin (screenwriter, project lead), Nicolas Leroy (illustration), and Paul Bouchart (FX).
     

  • January 27, 2025: Storyboard of the trailer finalized.

  • Since April 2025: Preparation of an Ulule crowdfunding campaign (launch planned for October 2025).

  • May 2025: Arrival of Éric Cesbron (backgrounds) to the team.

  • June 30, 2025: Filming of a presentation interview [directed by Sébastien Marqué].

  • ?? August 2025: Filming of the official project presentation clip [directed by Sébastien Marqué].

  • October 1, 2025: Launch of a crowdfunding campaign for the production of the first volume of the graphic novel and the creation of the animated series trailer.

    Upcoming:

  • Finalization of the script (last details).

  • Sending the script for review and feedback (scientists, historians, etc.).

  • Search for partners and funding (publishing houses, audiovisual productions, broadcasters...).
